                Personal Space Differences

If there is something so personal is our SPACE, and it can vary according the different cultures, personal experiences, even the personality of each person.
Around the world we have a lot of examples where we see very explicit how our treat to others can influence on this. For Germans, for example personal space is sacred and they feel stress of having their space invaded. Ivers says: "These cultural paradigm could be responsible for wars either directly or indirectly" to explain one of the reasons to react in this way. American people, feel a little uncomfortable if other person invade their personal space, they are the kind of people that firstly need to establish a relationship or preferably it should be among family and friends with a previous confidence.

To know about cross-cultural relationships and the own personal space of people, and to be very careful in our treat to others, it is essential to avoid possible disagreements and misinterpretations. We can work with especially attention in our classrooms to improve the relation teacher-students and student-student according their needs. In this way, we will create an appropriate environment in our TFL Classes in order to cultivate respect and consideration for the personal space and the privacy of others.

Question to ponder:
* What aspects or issues are important to agree as rules in the classroom in order to respect the personal space of each student?
