Cross-Cultural Students in the Classroom
As teachers information, we need to be prepared for TFL/TESOL classrooms. It is a fact that in one moment of our teaching, we will have multi-cultural students and, in this environment, it is essential to develop skills and resources in order to deal with the different paradigms and situations in the best way possible.
There are a plenty of ideas and resources to apply in our multicultural classrooms, to create an appropriate environment, some of them can be:
- To know personally each student in order to know deeply his/her personal things (Personality, culture, customs, etc)
- Adequate the plan of our lesson to work with activities that imply diversity and teamwork.
- Approach in the similarities and not so much in the differences.
- Search for information related to cultures and sub-cultures, be prepared as much as we can!
- Work and shape our class looking for EGALITARISM among our students.
Question to PONDER:
* What are the things we can do to enrich our multicultural classrooms? How can we work in our classes to reach EGALITARISM?
